Should I mark items that were not returned as Lost?

Items not returned that you are hoping to get back when school is reconvened next Fall should be left as current transactions, signed out to the students or teachers who checked them out.

If the student or teacher who has the item checked out has left the school, you can 2 copies of an overdue notice that includes the items and the replacement costs and send this notice to them via US mail if you have a home address.  Keep the second printed copy for your records.  You can also send the notice as an email if you have a parent email address.  Then delete the items.  Don't mark these items lost.  Any items marked Lost will be changed to the Status of Available when the Marc and copy records are moved to the new site, and would need to be marked Lost again in the new site.
