"Live in the Along": A Middle School Civil Rights Research and Presentation Project: Home Notes

This guide presents a sample unit illustrating the use of collaborative components in Destiny© and LibGuides for an 8th grade research and presentation project on Civil Rights.

This sample research project was designed to allow for SLMS collaboration amongst as large a variety of disciplines as possible, including but not limited to ELA, Social Studies, Humanities, and Arts. Remember to add your colleagues as Collaborators to the LibGuide(s) that you create for your project.

This research and presentation project does not include prompts or assignments to guide students in understanding the Civil Rights Movement itself. This lesson is meant to supplement prior knowledge and previous lessons. Students should also be familiar with the research and citation process and the use of primary and secondary documents; or, components reflecting those student outcomes could be added to this lesson.

This guide is a rough sketch of ideas and is not meant to be comprehensive.
