While most RILINK members are very familiar with AskRI.org, I have chosen to highlight this rich resource this week to remind us and our patrons of its availability and to thank OLIS for free access to these great resources. Access to these resources are seamless when in any RI public or RI school library. Remote access may require more than geographic authentication, so checking vendor information page is recommended.
Common Sense Media is "dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in a world of media and technology." This site is highlighted frequently on many of the lists to which I subscribe. Check out their complete mission statement and ten beliefs.
Disease Detectives is a another gem from The Last Backpack blog. This site sponsored by National Center for Research Resources, a division of NIH, provides an inactive forum for students to learn about infectious diseases and health care careers.
