Barrows School Is your district rethinking its library curriculum? How does it reflect the connection between the AASL Standards and the Common Core? Does it stress the important connection between a strong library program and student achievement? Learn more about the connection between the AASL Standards and the Common Core Standards and hear from one district about the process they used to develop their curriculum. |

Hear from your colleagues about how they have started building guides and using them with their faculty and students. Experience some of the basics creating a guide from scratch. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop if possible. A LibGuides CMS subscription is not required to attend this session. |

See all the amazing tools to which school librarians have access. Learn about our databases, including a half-dozen EBSCO databases that are available statewide, such as Points of View, Literary Reference Center, Biography Collection and AtoZ. Learn how you can help students and teachers effectively use these resources for standards-based school assignments.

Session 2B LibGuides CMS Work Session Zachary Berger, RILINK Staff Andrea Hajian, SLMS, LaSalle Academy Sarah Hunicke, SLMS, Portsmouth High School Sharon Webster, RILINK Staff This session is for RILINK LibGuides CMS subscribers only. RILINK staff along with experienced LibGuides CMS users will be available to answer questions and demonstrate tools and techniques related to creating and customizing this web application including LibCal. Registrants are encouraged to bring a laptop as access to computers is limited at EBEC. This session is repeated during Session 3B. Participants may register for one or both sessions.

Session 3C Some Basics of Common Core in the Classroom Donna Good, SLMS, Narragansett High School A high school librarian will share her experiences with the Common Core workshops provided by RIDE last June. She will offer an activity on text-based questions and one on close reading. She will touch on the concept of writing an argument and determining text complexity. |
