Evan will briefly describe the maker movement in libraries and how it led to the creation of the Idea Studio at Warwick Public Library, including the planning, construction, and operation of the lab. Evan will discuss how the studio has impacted the library, the community, and the patrons that use the facility to further their personal and professional lives. He will also discuss the importance that spaces like the Idea Studio will play in the future of libraries.
Zach will follow Evan's discussion with an examination of how these creative spaces are being used in school libraries. What are the spatial, collaborative, technological, and budgetary needs for a school library makerspace? What are effective ways to connect students, colleagues, and parents with these spaces? How can all of this be accomplished with limited time and limited budgets? And what is the potential impact on the library curriculum?
