eBooks & audiobooks: Audio books

Are student IEPs  or other needs pointing toward audio books or other alternative materials?

Here are some sources for digital audio books.  Please let us know if you have other sources to add.

To find audio books in Titlewave:

  1. Click on Advanced Search under the Search box.
  2. Choose the Audiovisual tab. 
  3. Scroll down the page, and click on Follett Digital audiobooks under Formats.  You can also make selections in the Interest Level area.
  4. Click on Search in the top left hand corner of the page.

Sources for read-alouds.  Please let us know if you have other sources to add.

  • BookLynx has many titles that include a Read-Aloud component, with a computer voice that can be slowed down or speeded up, with text highlighted as the voice reads.  To find books in Titlewave with a Read Aloud component:
  1. Click on Advanced Search under the Search box. 
  2. Choose the [eBooks and Digital] tab.
  3. Scroll down the page, and click on [Text-to-Speech].  You can also make selections in the Interest Level area.
  4. Click on Search in the top left hand corner of the page.
  • Tumblebooks libraries all include books with a read along component. Please see the Tumblebooks tab in the Member Discounts guide. 
  • Many Mackin eBooks include a read aloud component.  Mackin eBooks and digital audio books are now integrated with Destiny, and should NOT require a username and password to open them or check them out once you, a student or teacher is logged into Destiny.  If this is not working for one or more of your Mackin eBooks or digital audio books, please contact info@rilink.org.
  • Capstone has many interactive ebooks with a natural voice read aloud component.
  • A Storytime Before Bed – Free
  • Epic
  • Storyjumper – Free (can also purchase), not read aloud but interactive page turning
  • National Geographic Explorer Magazine
  • RazKids – Free 14 day trial

To find out which eBooks in Titlewave offer the read-aloud option:

  1. Click on Advanced Search under the Search box.
