Reading Follett eBooks or Playing Audiobooks Offline When Not Connected to the Internet

The process for reading an eBook or playing an audiobook offline depends on whether you are using a computer, an IOS or Android device, or Chromebook.

  • To read or play offline on an IOS or Android device, such as a phone or tablet, download the free Destiny Discover app from the App store for your device. More about the app is available here.
  • To read or play offline on a computer follow the directions at https://destinydiscoverhelp.fsc.follett.com/Content/Reader/Read%20Offline_browser.htm. Remember to add the bookmark called Follett Offline Content so that you can get back to your offline library by opening your browser is very important. 
  • To read offline on a Chromebook follow the directions at https://destinydiscoverhelp.fsc.follett.com/Content/Reader/Read%20Offline_browser.htm. Remembering to add the bookmark called Follett Offline Content so that you can get back to your offline library by opening your browser is very important.  Currently, audiobooks cannot be downloaded to a Chromebook to play offline. District settings or age of equipment may prevent the user from doing this.

 

Avoiding Data Usage Charges on phone or tablet

Make sure Cellular Data for the Destiny Discover app in not enabled in Settings to read offline.  When a downloaded eBook is first opened, "OFFLINE MODE" should be visible initially. It does disappear quickly. If it says "ONLINE MODE," check your phone or table settings again.
