Survey Says....!

Could you guess a common backyard insect (such as a dragonfly, butterfly, grasshopper, or moth) or spider from a classmate's scientific description? That's the object of Backyard Bonanza: A Different Kind of Game Show.

Here's how it will work:

PART ONE: RESEARCH

Each student will pick a "contestant" --  a type of insect or spider -- to study. Some samples are shown on the Contestant page. Students will select and utilize resources from RICAT to conduct research. See instructions on the Research page.

PART TWO: PARTICIPATE

After completing research, each student will read to the class a list of the most intriguing scientific information about his or her contestant. Lists will be read in the form of, "My contestant is / has / does / can ______________". The class will have the chance to guess which insect or spider the student researched. See the guidelines on the Participate page

PART THREE: SHARE

Each student will pick one research resource to create one of the following projects to share with the class:

(1) Write a detailed book review about the resource OR

(2) Create a home-made book trailer about the resource

Book reviews and book trailers will be posted to RICAT and/or LibGuides.

More guidelines are on the Share page.
