"Live in the Along": A Middle School Civil Rights Research and Presentation Project: Teams

This guide presents a sample unit illustrating the use of collaborative components in Destiny© and LibGuides for an 8th grade research and presentation project on Civil Rights.

Team Guides

STEP 1. Form Teams

The class will be divided into teams of four or five and assigned to a Team Guide. Each team must work together to complete the eight steps listed on this page. All team members will be given a Collaborator user name and password. Look for your Team Guide link on the left.

STEP 2. Choose Artist

Each team should click through to the Artists Page to learn about and choose an artist. This should be a team decision. An artist may be assigned to more than one team. A team may choose more than one artist. Return to this page when you are done.

STEP 3. Choose Role

Each team should click through to the Roles Page to learn about and choose a role. This should be a team decision. A role may be assigned to more than one student. Return to this page when you are done.

STEP 4. Choose Presentation

Each team should click through to the Presentation Page to learn about and choose a presentation format. This should be a team decision. Return to this page when you are done.

STEP 5. Locate Resources

Use RICAT to search for books and websites about your artist. Add the information to your Team Guide. Remember to create Resource Lists in RICAT to track your resources.

STEP 6. Conduct Research
