August 8, 10:05-11:35am
Sylvia Martinez

  • All Audiences

Want to get started with “making” in the classroom or library? This session will explore learning by doing with a wide range of new materials and technologies for STEM, STEAM, and other subjects. We will discuss tinkering, design thinking, genius hour, PBL, and other frameworks that support hands-on, minds-on experiences for 21st century learners. Learn how educators around the world manage the iterative design process with engaging prompts and helpful (but not TOO helpful) scaffolding. Participants will view new research on assessment for projects using modern technology and materials. Options and ideas for the best starter purchases and makerspace design will be shared.
