Mindfulness in Education: A Pilot Study in Preschool Education and Beyond

Through demonstration, hands-on activities, slides, and videos, this session will present information and research on the use of Mindfulness in Education, including discussion of a preschool-focused pilot program designed for this academic year. All information is transferable to K-12 settings with adjustments for developmental levels of the students.

CJ Meehan is employed by the Henry Barnard School (HBS) at Rhode Island College. Ms. Meehan has worked at HBS, in varying capacities, since the 2010-2011 Academic School Year. Currently, she works as a Preschool Co-Teacher alongside Ms. Cheryl Paul.

Ms. Meehan received her undergraduate degree from RIC in Psychology and Child Development in 2009, and her graduate degree in Elementary Education from RIC in 2013. She is currently completing coursework on an additional graduate degree, this time concentrating in Early Childhood Education. She has completed coursework in Mindfulness Education, and is interested in becoming a licensed Mindfulness Educator in the future.

She lives in Cranston, RI with her husband, two children, a pug, and two hamsters.
