"I am Not a Math Person": Identity and Its Impact on Math Success

What is math identity and why does it matter? This session will help teachers think about their own identity around mathematics and the identities of their students. Leave with a deeper understanding of how to examine your instructional practices, and an introduction to strategies to help students create a positive math identity.
Nicole T. Bridge has been an educator since 2005, and has had the privilege to work in several states across the country. Her roles have included classroom teacher, instructional coach, district content specialist, and professional development consultant. Nicole is passionate about creating educational experiences that allow teachers to reflect on their own beliefs and practices, and the impact that those have on student learning.
