Book Challenges - SLRI to the Rescue!

Lisa Girard is the librarian at Gallagher Middle School in Smithfield, RI. She completed her MLIS at the University of Rhode Island, her MEd at Lesley University, and her BA at the University of Massachusetts- Amherst. She served on the RITBA Committee for 4 years before serving currently on the RIMSBA committee and is past president of SLRI (School Librarians of RI).

Marianne Mirando received her BA Honors from the University of Toronto and a Degree in Elementary Education from D’Youville College. Since obtaining her Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Rhode Island, Marianne worked as an elementary librarian for one year and then transferred to the Westerly High School in 2001. Marianne is certified as a Media Smart Librarian through the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Rhode Island and completed Tier 1 of the University of Rhode Island Summer Institute in Digital Literacy in July 2016. Marianne also worked part-time as reference librarian for Westerly Public Library and continues to work for the library at the adorable Watch Hill branch during the summer months.

Mary Moen is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the School Library Media program in the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Rhode Island. She is an active member of SLRI and is dedicated to advocating for the profession and building a stronger statewide professional learning community.
